June 2022 workshop: 'What's Next' in communications

AMP hosted a cutting-edge workshop June 9 on rising forms of journalism and other types of mass communication. "What's Next? Staying Ahead in Evolving Media Fields" was an engaging and informative event. Speakers Eunice Elliott, Anita Varma, Jarvis Escott, Starr Dunigan, Chaundra Davis and Cecilia Wood shared their experiences with hyper-local media, movement and solidarity journalism, podcasting, marketing to younger generations, and more.

Thirty-one people attended the hybrid event, with 24 of them in-person at Homewood Library and seven tuning in via Zoom. Students from the University of Alabama’s Multicultural Journalism Workshop were among the in-person crowd.
