January 2023 meeting: AMP, Homewood Rotary team to host panel on news literacy

AMP will host a panel discussion with local, award-winning journalists during a joint meeting with Homewood Rotary Club on Jan. 12 from noon to 1 p.m. at Homewood Library. Panel-discussion topics will include news literacy and misinformation.

Panelists are:

• Virginia Martin, news editor at BirminghamWatch

• Carla Wade, news anchor at WVTM NBC Channel 13

• Ruth Serven Smith, education editor for AL.com

• Rashah McChesney, senior content editor for the Gulf States Newsroom

AMP Vice President of Programs Clay Carey, a journalism professor at Samford University, will moderate the discussion.

The event will be held in the library's main auditorium, which is Homewood Rotary Club's usual meeting space.
