Speaker discussed issues and opportunities in online learning
Michael Throop, assistant professor of journalism and mass communications at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, and 40-year veteran of the broadcast industry, was the guest speaker at Alabama Media Professionals' July 9 meeting. Throop discussed “The ‘swiss cheese’ landscape in online learning: issues and opportunities.” He addressed members' questions and these topics:
If there are a myriad of issues in what might be “the best,” what are the pitfalls that face lesser equipped districts and populations?
What are short-term solutions for connectivity and equipment?
What “best practices” from telecommuting can be applied, longer term, for learning and participating wherever a student’s “virtual” classroom is located?
